Yooralla’s Speech Pathology can support children, young people and adults with disability with communication, language and swallowing. Yooralla is a registered NDIS Speech Pathology provider.

Speech Pathology for children, young people and adults at Yooralla

Our team of qualified and experienced speech pathologists can support kids, teenagers and adults with disability to build skills around communication, language and how you interact with others. They may also provide support if you have any challenges swallowing food or drinking safely. 

At Yooralla, we know that everyone is different, so our supports are tailored to you. Our speech pathologists will work collaboratively with you, and your support network, to understand your needs and goals and develop a plan that meets your goals. 

Can Yooralla’s speech pathologist support people with communication?

Yes, our speech pathologists can provide comprehensive assessment and plans to support people with disability to build their communication skills, including:

  • supporting children, teenagers and adults to say sounds and words correctly and clearly
  • overcoming communication barriers to build confidence, social skills and creat meaningful connections 
  • understanding what others are saying or meaning, including understanding humour and social traditions 
  • understanding and expressing emotions
  • developing reading and writing skills
  • listening and problem solving skills
  • expressing ideas, asking questions and making requests, and 
  • developing non-verbal communication, including hand gestures and eye contact.

Supporting swallowing and mealtime assistance

If you experience challenges with swallowing food or drinking, Yooralla’s speech pathologists can support you to make sure mealtimes are safe and comfortable.

Our qualified team are highly experienced in communication and assistive technology and can support you to explore different ways to communicate. 

We can assist you to select an AAC device, complete trials and use AAC to make communication a more accessible and empowering experience. 

Our AAC and assistive technology consultants are available for advisory sessions, assessment, professional development and ongoing support as required. 

Our team can also complete prescription and funding applications as required.
