Specialist therapy supports in schools
We provide specialist therapy supports in schools; supporting students with disability or developmental delay to build their capacity and independence, and to achieve their goals
We provide specialist therapy supports in schools; supporting students with disability or developmental delay to build their capacity and independence, and to achieve their goals. We also support schools to strengthen their capacity to support an inclusive environment for their students with disability.
Our therapy team takes a person-centred, evidence-based approach to supporting children and young people. We recognise the importance of early intervention in building a child’s capacity through their early years.
We will work together with students and their families, their school and support network to deliver individually tailored therapy supports and strategies, including for students with complex needs.
What therapy services we provide in schools
Yooralla’s experienced allied health therapists provide flexible, one-to-one support in mainstream and special school settings for students with disability or developmental delay, and their support networks. Our therapy supports include:
- undertaking therapy assessments including fine motor/handwriting, sensory and functional capacity assessments, speech and language assessments, psychological and behavioural assessments
- delivering individual therapies such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, communication and assistive technology or psychology, and specialist behaviour support, and
- providing training and support to build the capacity of teachers and schools to support students with disability and additional needs.
Our therapists are committed to advocating for students, to improve their inclusion and active participation in school programs.

- equipment requirements and environment modification to support access and participation
- consultation on specialised technology for literacy, learning, communication and play
- transition support at key life stages, such as into secondary school, further education or employment, and
- access to resources and information to support the provision of safe and accessible educational programs.
