Our team of therapists have the clinical skills and expertise to support you throughout your life to find the most suitable assistive technology equipment. From moving around safely at home, to joining your friends in the community or talking with your family, our physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech pathology teams can work with you, and your support network, to support your communication, learning, recreation and daily life goals.
What is Assistive Technology?
Assistive technology (AT) refers to tools, devices, software or systems designed to support people with disability to perform tasks that might otherwise be challenging for them. These technologies aim to enhance independence, improve quality of life, and enable participation in activities such as communication, education, work, and daily living.
It’s important to remember that there is no one-size-fits-all solution with Assistive Technology. You may want multiple devices to assist you in your everyday life, or a simple tool that suits your needs.
Yooralla offers:

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and Assistive Technology (AT) consultants (formerly ComTEC)
Our AAC and AT consultants can help you explore the world of AT and support you to find the right solutions for you. Our specialist consultants offer personalised support to trial and select the right communication and assistive technology solutions. They work collaboratively with families and primary therapists to enhance independence and participation through consultation, training and education services.

Electronic Communication Devices Scheme (ECDS)
Yooralla administers the ECDS, a Victorian state government-funded service that subsidises communication devices, software, apps, and mounting systems, making essential technology more accessible. We can support you to access devices on the ECDS or to discuss your needs and make recommendations for products and services that are right for your goals.

'On the Move' powered mobility program
Our 'On the Move' program supports young children (under the age of five years) in accessing powered mobility devices, enabling them to independently explore their environments and participate in their community. We offer a variety of devices for hire and trial, including Wizzybugs and Permobil Mini Explorers.
Yooralla also offers additional services that work with you or your loved one to support you to achieve goals around all aspects of communication, learning and mobility.
