Yooralla’s Independent Living Centre service is concluding

Yooralla’s Independent Living Centre (ILC) service is concluding on 7 November 2019.

The Government funding supporting the service has recently ended, as part of the sector’s transition to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Other Yooralla services offered at the same location, 49 Sun Crescent in Sunshine, including ComTEC, will not be affected and will continue as normal.

Yooralla has supported the advancement of Assistive Technology and equipment in Australia for more than four decades.

Yooralla’s ILC, was the first in Australia. It was opened by then Premier Sir Rupert James Hamer in 1977.

Rod Carracher, Yooralla’s Chief Practitioner, said that since then, Yooralla’s ILC has provided independent and commercially unbiased information and advice on Assistive and Communication Technology to individuals, their family members and to the sectors’ Allied Health professionals.

“On behalf of Yooralla, I’d like to thank the ILC team for their commitment and invaluable contribution they’ve made to the lives of people with disability over the last four decades,” he said.
