Consultation begins with an introductory webinar on 20 September 2024 at 12 pm (AEST).

About the Consultation

The strategy aims to enhance the support available to people with disability, their families, and carers outside of the NDIS and aligns with the broader goals of the ongoing NDIS Review – which aims to improve the effectiveness and sustainability of the scheme.

Ongoing consultation with the disability community will ensure that these foundational supports are tailored to the diverse needs of Australians.

The government is particularly interested in gathering diverse perspectives from individuals, advocacy groups, and service providers to create a comprehensive support system that complements the NDIS.

When does the consultation begin?

Consultation begins with an introductory webinar on 20 September 2024 at 12 pm (AEST), which will cover the different types of foundational supports under consideration, such as community services and early intervention programs, and explain how the public can participate in shaping the strategy.

The session will be accessible, featuring Auslan interpreters and live captioning, ensuring that all interested parties can contribute to the discussion.

This webinar marks the beginning of a series of consultations designed to gather feedback from the public, advocacy groups, and service providers to refine and improve the strategy. People will be able to engage in a variety of ways, including through webinars, online questionnaires, written submissions, and in-person events to be held across Australia.
