2021 Excellence Awards Highlights
Cheryle Williams, Service Manager, Home and Living, Northern Region is one of two staff who have won Yooralla’s 2021 Emerging Leader Award. She has successfully led the Northern region as a representative in the Culture and Engagement Action plan working group.
“I love my role as Service Manager. We have amazing customers at Swan Hill, the staff promote a culture of PCAS and encourage our customers to live their best life. This is what continues to drive me in my role,” said Cheryle.
Recognition of a journey
The Emerging Leader Award is for individual Yooralla employees, not currently in senior leadership roles, who have excelled as emerging leaders by demonstrating leadership potential. Yooralla’s annual awards recognise team and individual staff who go above and beyond the expectations of their roles.
Cheryle has worked at Yooralla for twelve years, beginning as a Disability Support Worker, progressing to Lead Support and moving into the role of Service Manager at Swan Hill two years ago.
“I was quite shocked when I received the award. I was very appreciative of Mark Hulbert's nomination and recognition of my leadership journey,” said Cheryle.
A desire to learn more
Cheryle was nominated by Mark Hulbert, Group Manager, RRSS, Home and Living, Northern Region. Mark has observed Cheryle’s achievements as part of the Future Leaders working group, where Cheryle designed and implemented the Future Leaders program.
“Cheryle has been an active member in the First Leadership Development Program. Cheryle was nominated for this project based on her current leadership potential and desire to learn more,” said Mark.
A valued contributor
Future Leaders is a group of lead supports in the Northern Region who attend fortnightly training and information sessions to support their professional capacity and growth. Cheryle has been a valued contributor to the working group.
“I am very proud that I was selected for the leader training program. COVID made our leadership training challenging but we overcame that to produce some wonderful results,” said Cheryle.
Congratulations to Cheryle on receiving the award. Yooralla is grateful for your positive contributions to the organisation’s workplace culture where staff can learn and develop leadership skills.
