Chief Executive Officer Update
Hi there,
Welcome to this month’s CEO update.
A very important reminder that you only have a few days left to register for our Big Day Out, AGM and Excellence Awards, with RSVPs closing this Friday 18 November. We’re really excited to be reuniting with our community in person for the first time in three years at the Melbourne Town Hall on Monday 28 November.
I’m looking forward to hearing from Keynote Speaker, Nimo Hersi, who will share her Personal journey to Advocacy - how to promote leadership for people with lived experience. Singer and songwriter, Eliza Hull, who was earlier this week announced ambassador for this year’s International Day of People with Disability - Australia (IDPwD) on Saturday 3 December, will be performing with guitarist Connor Black-Harry. There will also be performances from clients including a special preview of Macey Rouge -the modern Moulin Rouge showcase! Clients from Macey Rouge Community Hub will be showcasing their talents before their first performance on 2 December. I look forward to seeing you at this celebratory day!
I am also pleased to share a positive flood update and report to you all that tenants in two homes that were affected by floods have been able to return home and that the clean-up efforts are well underway at our Mooroopna Business Enterprise. I’m simply in awe of our wonderful Yooralla managers and staff. Some left their own properties at risk to accompany and support their clients. They showed calmness under pressure, continuous engagement of families, and support for clients to make their own preparations. A big thank you to everyone who has gone above and beyond to ensure the safety of our clients, services and their colleagues.
I’m also excited to share our new Community Service Announcements (CSAs) that are currently airing on Channel Nine until 18 November. These CSAs feature clients from our different service areas including residential, community hubs, community inclusion and therapy. These are beautiful videos that really bring to life our work, in the voices of those we support. Don’t worry if you haven’t been able to catch the ads on Channel Nine, we have shared these on our website and social media channels for you to view at your leisure.
We are also sharing information on social media on how to vote in the upcoming Victorian State Election on 26 November to encourage as many people to exercise their right to vote and have their voices heard this election.
Please enjoy this edition of the newsletter and stay safe and well.
Stay safe and well.
