Are you interested in Aquatic Therapy for your child? EOIs open for Easter school holidays
We are accepting expressions of interest for an Aquatic therapy program held at local community pools throughout the Easter school holidays, for children funded under the NDIS.
The sessions, held at either Broadmeadows Aquatic and Leisure Centre or Craigieburn Splash Aqua Park and Leisure Centre, are the perfect opportunity for your child to become more confident in the water.
Facilitated by a skilled Yooralla paediatric physiotherapist, the daily 30-minute sessions will focus on water familiarisation, enhancing social skills and developing physical skills.
This program began in 2022 and has been greatly received and thoroughly enjoyed by the children and parents who participated.
Nutchalee, whose son Lucas (pictured) participated in the program noticed a ‘significant improvement’ in his water confidence.
“Before the program, he was not confident to play in the swimming pool…deeper than his knee. When he joined the program, he is more confident and can play in the swimming pool by himself."
“He learnt the basic swimming [skills] and can survive in water. He can also join in in the deep pool with his Dad without being scared!”
“More importantly, he enjoyed and had fun with all the activities prepared. I strongly believe this program helped my son to learn to swim and will make the next step of swimming easier,” said Nutchalee.
Participants also reported improved water confidence along with enhanced social skills and interaction between the participants, with the program supporting one participant to successfully transition to regular community swimming lessons.
