Foundation Program

This is for you if you want to build confidence, develop life and employment skills and create a pathway to meaningful employment or increased independence.

The Foundation program is designed for 16 to 22-year-olds with intellectual disability. This one-year program focuses on building self-awareness, vocational choices and independence – providing foundational skills for people who want to transition into the Impact Program or pursue other life goals.

Developed with input from schools, parents, specialist teachers, and co-designed with teenagers and young people with intellectual disability, Deakin Co and Jobs Victoria, this two-day per week program is designed to support you to build independence and confidence in everyday life.

Through the program, you’ll develop skills in areas like independent travel, daily living, social interactions and problem-solving. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to regularly visit companies and volunteer organisations, exploring roles in hospitality, customer service and more.

To further enhance your skill development, you can combine the Foundation skills program with a range of other support services, such as our Assistance with Daily Life, Community and Learning Hubs and Therapy supports. These flexible supports are tailored to your goals, needs and outcomes. Whether at home, in the community, at school or work, we can provide one-to-one support for a range of tasks.

Our Social and Community Participation supports can also help you meet new friends, take classes, try new activities, join social groups or go on holiday, building your confidence and expanding your horizons.
