Customised Employment
Embark on a personalised career journey with Yooralla’s Customised Employment program, to find the right job for you.
Choose this if you want a job that truly fits you, with personalised support every step of the way.
Maybe you would like to work in retail, at one of our Social Enterprises, be an electrician, or even run your own business – whatever your employment goals are, Yooralla can support you to pursue them by providing job skills training and building pathways into employment. This could be casual, part-time or full-time employment.
What is customised employment?
Customised employment is designed to build your confidence and independence and provide you with more control over your job opportunities – empowering you to land a job that’s right for you.
Our experienced, qualified job coaches will take the time to get to know you, helping you to discover your career interests, what you enjoy at work, your strengths and any support you may need at work. They will then work closely with you, your support network and potential employer to find or create a job that matches your skills and interests. Once you’re in the job, we will also provide you with ongoing on-the-job support, as required.
We know you’re a great addition to any workplace! The aim of our customised employment program is to find a job that feels important to you, is matched to your skills, where you can excel, and your unique contribution is valued.
How does customised employment work at Yooralla?
There are three phases in the customised employment program at Yooralla. These include:
1. Discovery phase
expand_moreThe first exciting step is the discovery phase. Our experienced, qualified job coaches will take the time to get to know you, explore your story, understand what motivates you and highlight your strengths. We will help you to discover your career interests, what you enjoy at work and any support you may need at work. They will then work closely with you, your support network and potential employers to find or create a job that matches your skills and interests.
This important step is the starting point from which we will develop a plan that aims to build your job skills and capacity to gain meaningful work that suits your interests, strengths and support needs. Think of the discovery phase as your personalised adventure to discover more about yourself – making sure your future job is just right for you.
2. Job planning
expand_moreThis is the planning and development stage. After the discovery phase, our job coaches will consider your strengths, interests and skills. They will then negotiate with potential employers to tailor roles to suit you and provide you with meaningful employment opportunities – all while supporting the goals of the business.
Our job coaches will connect with potential employers to tailor roles to suit you and meet their business needs. We want to make sure you’re a valued member of the team and your unique contributions are celebrated.
You could also learn educational, social and workplace skills at one of our Community Hubs. Yooralla Hub programs aim to build confidence in a learning environment and can be a stepping stone to TAFE courses or open employment.
Our Learning Hubs also offer several non-accredited training programs and provide opportunities for work and volunteer experience. We also have existing partnerships with several TAFEs, so we can support you in this learning environment.
3. Post-employment support
expand_moreThis is where your new adventure starts! Once you find the job that’s right for you, we will provide ongoing, on-the-job support as needed.
We can slowly reduce this support as you build connections and increase your capacity and independence at work.
We can be there with you every step of the way to make sure everything goes smoothly, and you succeed in your new workplace.
Customised employment funding eligibility
To be eligible for customised employment services, you must have an NDIS plan with employment goals in your plan. If you are a current high school student or recent school leaver, you may be eligible for this funding and should discuss this with your NDIA planner.
