About Macey Heights Community Hub
Located in Avondale Heights, Macey Heights Hub is focused on educational and skills development (including job skills, social skills, independent living skills, travel training and cooking) and recreation for adults with disability. The Hub is well known for their Performing Arts Program (particularly their end of year performance) and they love to socialise and get together for fun events such as their regular nightclub and movie nights.

We can work with you to tailor a program to your individual goals, needs and interests to enhance your life skills, independence and wellbeing.
Step 2 – Book a visit
Complete our Request for service form linked on this page to let us know you're interested in the Macey heights Community Hub. Once you submit a request our Yooralla Connect team will get in touch. We can support you to book in a free tour and chat to us to meet our staff and clients, see what activities are on offer, ask about anything else you may want to do, and to get familiar with the location.

We offer a range of individual and group activities and programs so you can get involved in your local community, learn new skills, build your confidence and stay active and social. We also provide one-to-one individual support for daily living tasks and to support participation in recreational activities.

Is transport available to get me to the Community Hub in Avondale Heights?
expand_moreThe Macey Heights Community Hub in Avondale Heights (North-Western Melbourne), is accessible by public transport and has wheelchair accessible parking.
We can put you in touch with a taxi company that many of our clients use to take them to the Hub – please ask us about this when you contact us. The closest bus station is the 406 Bus and it is a 16 minute walk from the 57 tram route Central Park Ave/Cordite Ave Stop #49. We do not have any organised/funded transport to get our clients to the Macey Heights Community Hub, so transport costs will be an out-of-pocket expense.
As part of the Community Access Hub’s life skills programs, we offer travel training, road safety and safety in the community programs to support independent travel.

Who will I meet at the Macey Heights Community Hub?
expand_moreThe age range of the majority of people who currently attend the Hub is 18 to mid-30s. However, we also have older clients. We group our clients appropriately based on a number of factors including a person’s program choices, ages and needs. Many people at this Hub are interested in creative and performing arts and fun events. They are a social bunch of people who love trying new things and welcoming new faces. Our staff are experienced, outgoing and engaging.
What if I want to do an activity that is not currently in the Macey Heights program?
expand_moreOur current Macey Heights Community Hub program is just an indication of the types of learning, social, active, community access and fun activities you may want to do through our Community Hub. Talk to us about your interests and what you want to do, and we can work with you to tailor a program to suit your goals, interests and needs. We also have other community access opportunities outside of our Hubs.

What community programs are available through Macey Heights Community Hub?
expand_moreMany of the Macey Heights Community Hub programs support participants with interacting and engaging with the community – this may be via the Hub or our other Social and Community Participation supports.
The Hub offers pathways into volunteering, work experience, further study, work and accessing services. We offer life skills training including safety in the community and travel training. We regularly get out and explore our local community and various attractions and landmarks in Melbourne, just for fun and also for educational reasons, such as visiting famous gardens in Melbourne, as part of our gardening program.
Performing Arts is one of the Macey Heights Community Hub’s most popular programs – participants just love tapping into their creative and theatrical side and expressing their talents. A highlight on the Yooralla calendar is Macey Height’s end of year performance every year.
what level of support is available at the Macey Heights Community Hub
expand_moreOur staff are trained in meal-time assistance, epilepsy and diabetes management, mediation administration, asthma, enteral meal support and positive behaviour support/behaviour of concern.
We can cater to a wide range of needs, including 1:1 support where required. Many of our clients are supported in small group ratios of 1:2 or 1:3.
Yooralla also offers 1:1 support for people to participate in our Community Hubs and Recreation services through our Assistance with Daily Life service. This could range from support to get ready for the day, to support for you to attend a Macey Heights Community Hub program or community activity.
