Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and Assistive Technology (AT) Consultants

Our specialist AAC and AT Consultants provide personalised, collaborative support to explore, trial and select the right communication and AT solutions.

Our team of specialist Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and Assistive Technology (AT) Consultants are here to help you explore the world of AAC and AT. We work closely with you, your support network and your primary therapist to find the right technology to support communication, work, play, learning and connecting with friends and family.

Choosing the right solution can be challenging, even for experienced speech pathologists or occupational therapists. That’s why our AAC and AT Consultants partner with you, your family and your primary therapist to find, trial and assess the most suitable communication devices and assistive technologies, including free and social options.

Working together, we identify the best technology options based on your goals, demonstrating and trialling these technologies with you, and co-designing the most effective solution for the tasks you wish to achieve. We can also work with you to develop a plan for a longer trial of some equipment.

Yooralla's AAC and AT Consultants work with all brands of communication and assistive technologies, without being limited by commercial relationships with specific providers. This flexibility allows us to recommend the most appropriate solutions, whether mainstream or specialist, tailored to your unique needs.

What can Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and Assistive Technology (AT) Consultants support me with?

  • Support independent participation and learning at school, with alternative pencils and literacy support software and strategies.
  • Maximise independence at home through environmental control and task management technology.
  • Increase independence through alternative access to gaming and creative activities.
  • Secure and correctly position technology using mounting systems.
  • Provide training to you, and your support network, to set up and effectively use the technology to meet your goals.
